What incentives are available for solar PV system purchasers?
Currently available to Utah homeowners:
Federal: Residential Renewable Energy Tax Credit
Incentive Type: Personal Tax Credits
Incentive Amount: 26% of system cost with no maximum
Drops to 22% in 2021
State: Renewable Energy Systems Tax Credit
Incentive Type: Personal Tax Credits
Inventive Amount: 25% of system cost with $1,600 maximum

How net metering works?
Net metering allows solar homeowners to receive credit for excess electricity that is produced and sent out to the grid
- You can receive credits for the electricity you produce and use them to reduce your energy bill
- You can only use credits to offset electricity you use; you cannot sell electricity back to the grid
- Net metering credits roll over month-to-month until March 31
- Minimum monthly customer charges will still apply (about $9 a month with RMP)
